Workshop on Expanded Immunization
Due to high poverty rate and lack of education in Pakistan, several illnesses that can be stopped with immunisation continue to spread in the country. To protect the children of the nation, The Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) was launched in Pakistan in 1978 to decrease child mortality, morbidity and incapacity associated with vaccine-preventable diseases. This includes protecting children by immunising them against childhood tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus and measles. Immunising children with vaccines may avert up to 17% of childhood mortality in Pakistan.
