Clinical Chemistry

Approx.360,000 tests annually. Board selection of tests in two general categories:

Haematology


Offers many tests for benign and malignant disorders of the peripheral blood, bone marrow and lymphoid tissue.

  • Full automated coagulation analyzer. (Sysmex CA500)
  • 3 Colour flow cytometry on Becton Dickinson FAC Scan.
  • Evaluation of body fluids by cytospin. Hb& protein Electrophoreses.

Blood Bank

Microbiology


Offers broad selection of tests designed for rapid identification of the causative agents of infectious disease and prompt reporting of results. Lab handles approx.50,000 samples annually which includes:

Complete range of organismidentification.

  • Susceptibility testing, and serologic assays.

Blood culture by Bactec 9240.

  • Positive culture, as early as 1 hour.
  • Fully automated.

Mycology has,

  • Long experienced mycologist.
  • Identifies & speciate 99% of Pathogenic fungi.

Tuberculoses culture and sensitivity.

Histopathology


Provides accurate and precise diagnosis of benign and malignant disorders. Consulting staff has expertise in knowledge of general pathology. as well as

Frozen section facilities.

 

Cytology services include:

  • Pap smear reporting.
  • Non-gync-cytology e.g. fluids etc.

FNAC procedures breast, thyroid & lymph nodes etc.)

 

Molecular Genetics


Advance in molecular genetics are having a major impact on the diagnostic capabilities of clinical laboratories. This newly established department has real time Q-PCR (Quantitative). Offers Following tests:

MTB-PCR, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B, HbsAg, H. Pylori (other tests to be added soon)

 

A genetic registry has been established to provide a database for genetic disorders.

 

Genetic counselling seminars will be held to discuss related issues.
